Mount Si Web Cam

A live view of Mount Si from the Snoqualmie River Valley

This camera shows the view towards Mount Si from our home in the Snoqualmie Valley. At night, the lights from Snoqualmie Falls are faintly visible in the right hand side of the picture. If you keep watching during the day you can see the clouds and trees move as the image automatically updates.

For reference, the trees in the foreground are 250 feet away from the camera. The trees in the background are 1.5 miles away. The Mount Si to the left is 4500 feet and 10 miles away. The ridge just beyond the falls to the right is 12 to 17 miles away and between 4000 and 5000 feet in elevation. Depending on weather conditions and time of day not all these features are visible.

There is now a time lapse movie of today’s camera images. Each second of video is 15 minutes, the whole day takes 96 seconds to tick by.

The picture is taken using an iBook and an iSight camera. The iBook uses Gawker to capture images and our web server uses a script I wrote to fetch the images from Gawker.
